When I picked up two boxes early last week one was all unc 1993D. I picked up two more boxes today and BOTH were unc 1993D. Since these boxes are sealed there is no way the bank can see what is in there so I cannot blame them for that. I may avoid my usual bank for a while to give them time to get rid of those to someone else, then try back again.

Thinking about it I may try to put them on ebay to see if anyone wants them. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

Some thoughts...Why would the deposatory that is supplying coin to your bank all of a sudden come up with boxes of 13 year old coin? Did the Fed just dump a large amount of its surplus into the system? Have they been sitting in the depository all along, but just got uncovered? If they just got uncovered, could the boxes under those have been hidden there since, say, 1964 or older? My dream is to be able to go into the vault and pick my boxes from the bottom rear of the pile.

No idea whatsoever the reason. I remember looking at my red book a couple of days ago and saw the mintage on these coins is 15M. This is a lot, but small compared to the other denominations. Not to mention a lot of the coins have seen extensive use in the casinos. The worst I will do is not get a buyer, but to protect myself I will have a reserve of the total face value I put in the sale. Even if I only get face value, I still win as they have to pay shipping costs, so I will not have to dig into my pocket for that. And best of all, I get them out of the local area. I did a google search, and saw many places selling MS63 - MS65 for 3 - 9 dollars each, so maybe I can make a little out of it. If so, I will be going back to the bank, and if they have more I will put them on ebay as well. Now all I have to do is learn how to put an ebay sale together! ::)

If you do put them on ebay, don't forget the auction fee, final value fee and if you accept PayPal that's a third fee, so you won't get the face value if the auction doesn't increase over the face value. Shipping will be quite expensive, doesn't a box weight close to 25 pounds and I'm not sure that someone would want to pay the shipping on that. I've also come across rolls from banks that have all uncirculated 1992 or 1993 halves that people didn't want and returned them to the bank. A teller told me that as I was purchasing them. I still took all of the halves because I saw 3 rolls that were old hand wrapped rolls and I scored a lot of silver form them and deposited the other rolls. But I did open them all just to make sure nothing was mixed in.

I'm confused. If they have extensive casino use then they can't be uncirculated. If they have been circulated, then I find it hard to beleive that all the coins in the rolls would be the same date.

If I were to put uncirculated rolls of same year coins on e-bay, I would do it in one or two roll lots. That will make it more work for you but you would stand a better chance of selling and getting more competition on the sale. Also shipping would be less.

If they are indeed uncirculated, you might want to go thru some of the rolls and try to find coins that might grade out high MS-??.

Good luck, hope you make mucho $$.

They are 1993-D. It looks like I might be better off selling them in single rolls like that! Thanks for the link! HH
