Buying silver at less than spot value

I have bought a little, but not much. I hate buying silver - I'd rather find it. Wouldn't we all? Your best bet there is to hit yard sales and garage sales. Maybe they have some coins they are selling. Look at the jewelry when you're there. What is funny is to encounter a garage sale that has some coins and they are asking for more than they are worth even as collectables, but they have sterling silver jewelry or tableware for pennies. It all melts the same. In fact sterling is a higher silver content so you get more bang for the buck.

Bought some junk silver today. It was a bunch, but it was $50 less than melt.

A bunch of Barber Quarters, Barber Half, couple of Walking Halves....~20...for less than spot. I dunno if the seller knew quite what he had. It is all at home now, I am going to go through it to look for Key Dates.

If I can get anything 20% below spot I'll jump on it. From there, I'll sell off enough of my finds to cover my initial investment and keep the other 20% so I'm in at no cost.

This is dealing with coins of course.
