I finally decided to pick up some rolls and try my hand at this. I stopped by my bank hoping they would have a large amount of halves. They only had 2 rolls. I ended up going home with the 2 rolls of halves, $100 in dimes, and $20 in pennies.

Results:

Dimes...Nothing

Pennies...2 wheats 56 & 58. The 56 still had a nice shine to it.

Halves...6 40%ers (2 67's, 3 68's, 1 69)

Overall I'm pleased. I really didn't expect to find much in only 2 rolls of halves. I'm already addicted though. I had the bank order $1000 in halves for me. I pick them up Friday. I'll post my results.

You did excellent for only two rolls. I have gone through a $500 box and maybe found 2 - 40% halves.

Well, I finished going through my $1000 in halves. Total keepers.....1 1965. Oh well, I guess it's time to try again. I think it's kind of funny that I got 6 40%ers out of 20 bucks and only 1 out of a thousand. The $1000 were all hand rolled with the banks wrappers. I wonder if someone there sorted them as they rolled them and just happened to miss one.

Try another bank, dkw; your hunch is very possibly correct, IMO.
