While still lamenting my penny casino's demise, I went down to the old part of Vegas today to a favorite movie theater. I had some time to kill before the show so I checked out some of the other casinos and found one that has over a dozen half dollar machines that still take coins! All it took was putting in a $100 bill and hitting "cash out." The first time I tried it my machine ran out of coins and the tech had to fill it so she lugged over a bag of halves and dumped it in. The good aspect of this is the bags are clear plastic so I can quickly see if there are any Bens or Walkers. Anyway, 200 coins later I had a 1967 & a 1969-D. Awesome! I threw four quarters in the bucket and returned them to the cage. Came back and did again for another $100. No silver this time but I got a 1976-S bicentennial proof (non-silver). By now it was time for my movie so I called it a day. Just goes to show you when one collecting opportunity ends another begins!

Keep rippin' and searchin' everyone...and good luck!

Congratulations on the silver and the proof halves. Glad to know you found a new source for halves, that's too funny that the halves are in plastic see thru bags. LOL Oh boy you could go to that casino all the time and keep inserting a $100.00 bill and have them fill the machine multiple times. I'm thinking you should take 5 one hunderd dollar bills and insert one and then cash out. If the machine runs out of halves, they let them fill it up and repeat this process four more times. That's four additional chances to look at the plastic bags. lol Don't take the halves to the coin counter until you are completely done for that day. You wouldn't want them to refill the machine with halves that you just looked at. LOL I wonder how much this casino has available in halves. I could spend an entire day at that casino. ROFL Continued good luck and clean them out! ;D

Incredibly, I didn't! I'm the chintziest gambler you ever saw! I'll admit I played some pennies back at my old haunt :'( but that's about my speed. Nickels would be high finance! Playing halves I could easily be down $50+ in about 10 minutes. That would wipe out any silver profit and then some.
