Today's looking pretty good for silver halves also (updated with picture)

Today I went to the bank in another town where I had ordered $1000 in halves. When I went there though the teller said she didn't order them! grrrrr

So I left there and went to a bank a block away. I asked if they had any rolls of halves. She said they had a lot of loose halves. I didn't know what would be in them so I only bought $200 worth. I went out to the car and started going through them. I found 6 - 40% silver right off the bat so I went back in and bought all they had. Another $744 worth.

I went through the first $200 worth and there were a total of 23 - 40%. I will update when I finish the other bag.

You wouldn't believe me without pics. I found a 1899 half dollar, a 1945 walking liberty half, 1948 and 1949 Ben Franklin half dollars, and a 1964 Kennedy. In addition to that I found 57 other 40% silver half dollars (that makes a total of 80 - 40% halves). BTW, what do you call an 1899 half dollar?

That would be a Barber or Liberty Head half. Great find. I want one...BAD.

The liberty head half and the walking liberty are two firsts for me. I have never found them coin roll hunting or metal detecting. I am so pleased.

Pretty choice batch you found there, ringding. Congrats on making the oldest list. Is there a mintmark on the back of the Barber half, either and "O" or an "S"? It would be under the eagle's tail feathers and above the "DO" in DOLLAR.

Immy, there is an "S." I don't know the first thing about coins. Is that good? Or is the "O" better?

Very nice find on the barber. I have found close to 600 90% halves in my roll hunting, including about 30 walkers, but have yet to find my first barber. Awesome, congrats!!! HH

"S" is better than no mint mark at all! In its current grade, looks like a solid "good", it would go for $23 versus $15 if it had no mint mark. An "O" would have been better still at $25. Congrats!
