Well gotta say all in all dismal.

Box quarters usual skunk....quitting them
2 box dimes 1951 roosie
4 boxes of pennies: 4 wheaties no special dates, no S out of all pennies, no error, nothing special.

Whats left? One box of halves I can pick up next week. 2 boxes coming, but only one bank in 100 miles radius going to let me drop them there. And yes I opened 6 accounts last week...still all say 10% fee or higher to put in bank, even if depositing in savings.

Bell County Kentucky....No one cares!!! Nothing but poor here. My bank practically told me without saying that the ones who get no charge on turning in change were the few with loads of money in there.

Final prognosis....gotta give up after the halves until I hopefully get a job in Knoxville and get a real bank.

In case you are wondering....MDing is even more dismal LoL.

Good luck all,
Postalrevnant

BTW had to modify this post. I had to drive all over and split up my coin today, because those new banks have also given me the 10% limit on other change as well. No charge yet, but will be one if I bring in more than varing from bank to bank $100-$200 a month. YEP sad but true.

Bell County and it's wonderful little banks, like the one at Wasioto that used to be a trailer. And you think it's a poor area. ;D I think Knoxville will improve your detecting abilities. Roll hunting can be a drag anywhere in the country.

LoL Daytondigger I remember that bank. I am actually not depressed about the coin roll hunting finds. I do believe that is probably the norm around the country. Its just the part about trying to get the change turned back in.

I thank one wonderful member of this forum: YOU for some tips on detecting here. I will be checking out those tips over the next little bit. Hope to turn the corner a little and begin to find a small amount of silver.

I do hope to get a job in Knoxville and make that move. I believe it will help the detecting part out alot, and perhaps with some luck opening accounts in 6 or 7 banks there and spreading out the halves perhaps I will be able to continue working on those. They have been pretty decent to me here, I would hate to have to begin spending them in stores all over to get rid of the clad. Would hate to hold up grocery lines counting out $80+ for groceries in halves LOL.

Might just have to do my shopping late late at night at Walmart perhaps then I can spread halves out.

Thanks all,

maybe you should try spending them as you normally would cash.......a little here, a little there. That way your not out any money in bogus fee's. are there any casino's in your area? I think all casino's have coin counting machines. Take them to the casino & cash them in for chips, or paper voucher, maybe spend a buck or two, then cash out & go home.

Paul

PS
Tried to warn you about the quarters, but atleast you had fun looking!

Yes Paul you were dead on about the quarters, but I did manage to help update 7 peps state quarter books, so was not a total loss.

I have not had to pay a fee yet thankfully, but any more will be. Actually let me re-phrase that. I get to turn in 1k in halves at one bank, that way they get enough to turn into fed, but thats it. Spending them shopping is what I will have to do if it comes down to it. It will mean buying them slowly too since I cannot afford to have too much tied up in halves to spend.

I guess it doesn't matter that much anyways. My friend at the bank that has been ordering them was just told not to order anymore after this grand without charging as well. That leaves me only one bank that will order, money up front, and its 30 miles away. Haven't checked out any banks further away, not economic for me atm nor do I have a reason to go that far away atm.

THanks,

Sorry forgot to mention no casinos within atleast 150 miles of me. That would be pretty cool though if one was close, if it had machines that did halves that would sure solve the problem.
