I think this happens more often than we think. Someone gets a rare coin, they take it in to a coin shop where the owner isn't very knowledgeable about that specific coin and says that it is a reproduction so the collector puts it in a dark corner of their collection, it isn't until the owner sells off their entire collection, or leaves their coin collection to their heirs that the coin gets re discovered and found for what it truly is.

I wonder how much more it would have been worth if he did not carry it around in his pocket for 30 years!

If it's the coin in the video than its in pretty good shape. But from the sounds of what he was saying it's the he occasionaly took it with him as a good luck charm when he visited a casino. so yes if he had carried it around in his pocket every day for 40 years it would be a blank disk.

Pretty amazing, thanks for sharing, I have a far off distant dream that this (or something even just a fraction as rare, and valuable) will someday happen to me...lol. I guess thats part of why most of us enjoy this treasure hunting hobby that we call: MD'ing, CRH'ing, yard-selling, etc... We figure that the only way to win "the lottery" is to actually play...

AWesome article, I believe I have read some of your posts from waayyyyy back about your finds.... I am relatively new to all this, (less than a year) so i will sometimes imagine the stacks that alot of you vets have built at F.V. .. . . . Envy.

Happy hunting,

Chris.

Happy hunting,

Chris.

I'ts sick to think that I miss CRH'g as much as I do since I got called back to work and considering that my job pays much better. However I have more passion for CRH'g and actually look forward to my next layoff!? how sick is that?

I did find alot when I searched alot. Seek and you shall find. I had some good days. and or months.
