Bank questions

At my bank I've been with for ten years or more, I have a box of halves coming in. It's my first and bank teller ,whom I have a great relationship, has said nothing of others buying halves and no implications of such either. All previous boxes (not halves were from brinks.

1. Does this help be only one checking halves at a bank?

2. Will brinks supply my bank with previously searched boxes?

3. If bank doesn't care and I'm not dumping there, should I order two boxes a week and only pick up one at a time, so I have one waiting. (Working on $500 budge, disabled veteran on fixed income)

Went to my CU today for 200 in dimes and 40 in nickels - 57,62 Roosevelt's, all nickels were 40's or newer (no silvers)

P.S. 4. Why are older non silver nickels valuable? I know about 50 d

brinks has a wide area that each facility covers. therefor it does not matter per se that you are the only one at a certain bank but how many are hunting in the distribution range of each brinks facility.

brinks can only send out coins that they have in their possessions. meaning that if someone dumps a box into brinks those coins will be cycled through the hopper and boxed and shipped out.

as far as ordering and having it sit at your bank. it takes up a lot of space in the vault. if the vault teller and manager are ok with id say go for it. knowing you have a box at your disposal is a good thing.

as far as nickels go. there are many key dates. 38D 38S 39D 39S 49S 50P 50D 51S 55P are all under 10 million. Also some not all not even most LCS will pay 7cents for the pre 60's nickels. I'm trying to sell a few rolls on craigslist for 1.5 times FV

Hope some of my info helps. Happy Hunting

Thanks for info, does help much. Why are pre sixty nickels so special? Can't wait for box of halves tomorrow, and I don't think they would have a problem storing them as long as I pickup regularly. If I were to stop I would buy them out and then order no more. Thanks again, HH

Found one in my very last roll, was hoping for another Franklin. Still a very good day with my first one, to begin with.

Nice haul. Coingratulations! I just have a standing order for one box a week. That way they don't have to store extra boxes in the vault. I would search more but in my small town it's hard to dump more than $500 a week.

Thanks, I think I will do the same, went town and dumped these. Went back to pickup bank and ordered more. Looks the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

Very nice box, not the norm by any means, be ready for the heart break of the dreaded skunk box, they will be plenty. I used to love those gold and white rolls, produced way better for me, havent had those in months. Welcome to the addiction. HH, Maverick.

Thank you much Maverick, I picked up two boxes of dimes right after this and was skunked on both of them. When I found the Franklin I knew this box was out of the norm. I was worried when reading about people getting 4-11 skunks in a row, I tapped into some beginners luck I suppose. :)

I picked up two hundred in halves. This was after signing up for new account and dumping some dimes. Then I drove across town to their other branch to pick up the halves. They produced one ender (my first) and two more 40's. All in all, was better average then the box I picked up yesterday. Not getting rich but it is tons of fun. ADDICTED! HH!

They are just older, and people seem to like them (maybe it's because it corresponds with the end of the wheat cents).

Picked up my second box of halves for the year. Best one yet, however didn't take pics, because I did these with my three year old.. He asked if he could open one. I admit I was gun shy at first, but I caved and threw him a roll. He ripped the paper to shreds and they spilled to the floor, silver! He had two silvers in one roll (never happened to me), one was a 64 and the other a 66. At the end I had nine keepers!
