Back in the day I had some pretty good luck in Vegas casinos (including one memorable haul) but most have gone coinless now. Some still have coin-op for the nostalgia players, including 50-cent machines, but I retired from CRH a few years ago and haven't explored recently. If you're in Vegas, the Downtown Fremont St casinos are your best bet.

I would dump $2000 or so about a year ago. They will not do it any more.

Casinos are the ONLY dump locations to be had around here, unless you want to reroll. One bank will take rolled coin at a fee of $1.50/box, first $10K free of charge per month. I am seriously considering opening an account there and paying them beginning with box #1. After factoring in gas and tips, etc I'd probably be money ahead nevermind saving a lot of wear and tear on the old bod. With a limit of $500/day most places it takes time, miles and tips to dump. But there are no banks around here that take bulk loose coin. The casinos take coin so they figure why bother with the expense.

Yes, they know about silver. Not to mention that some are also collectors and cull anything that might fit in an album. I've exchanged collecting tips, etc with several cage people. No, they won't sell you a bag and as a rule they don't keep halves in the trays.

~10 years ago, before most of the casinos went coinless (and before the price of silver spiked), there was a fellow that I shared hundreds of hours with at a poker table. He'd CRH while he played. He'd buy ~$200 worth, search them, dump them into their coin counter and do it again. Hour after hour, day after day. I personally saw him search tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands dollars worth of halves. During the time I saw him search, he pulled exactly 1 40%er. This particular casino even used halves for rake purposes on their poker tables. Of the thousands and thousands of rolls I saw opened over the years, I saw only 1 40%er hit the table, which I snagged.

A "fee" that actually saves you money isn't much of a "fee" at all.
