I grabbed $50 in MWR halves from my dump bank and found a 1970s proof in the first roll. Is it 40% or 90% and were all a mint 1970 proofs?

All 1970 halves are 40%. What you have their is the proof version. They also made 1970D that was the uncirculated version. All 'S' mint mark halves are proofs

Thanks, I figured it was 40%. Very low mintage, I assume they are rare finds?

Not a super rare coin in general, but a pretty rare find in the wild

What Magma said, all 1970 halves are 40%, none were released for circulation, the '70-D was only in mint sets and is generally considered the more desirable coin, the '70-S was only in proof sets. I'm also proud to say that I'm also an owner of a wild-caught '70-S.

Cool find.

Great score for sure!

They are rare in the 40% world... Ive found (1)1970D, (1)1970S, and (3)bicentennial 40%ers. and well over 1200 regular 40%ers.

If that gives you any kind of hint how rare they are :)
