1 keeper per box would be the consensus on this forum for average. I probably averaged around 10 boxes per week this year. Based off of those numbers though, 874 keepers so far this year divided by 520 boxes is slightly more than 1 per box.

1 40% silver every 1.59 boxes (270 silvers found)
1 90% silver every 6.42 boxes (67 silvers found, the majority being kens)
based upon 430 half dollar boxes over a long period of time (when I started keeping records)
I hope this helps, I do 2-6 boxes a week.

I do 10 boxes a week I am avg 1 40% every 4 boxes or so(a lot less in recent weeks) and 90% is 1 every 20+ boxes (these #s dont include my 92box skunk streak)

3 years ago, I was averaging 3 40% silvers per box (counting 1 90% as 3 40%'s).
2 years ago, I was averaging 2 40% silvers per box.
this year, I averaged only 1 40% silver per box.

I shudder to think what next year will bring...

Just started this year... started heavier volume late fall.

172 boxes this year. Average 1.56 total a box (0.30 90% and 1.26 40% per box). This includes an insane box with 57 (50 + 7 ratio of 40/90), followed by a streak of 51 boxes that produced a total of 2 40%.

Its all hit or miss. 5 boxes tonight produced 2 bens and 2 40%. Last night's 4 boxes produced 4 40%. Monday's 8 boxes produced a ben, a 64 kennedy, and 8 40%.

If I can get 1 a box average, I will take it. Shooting for 1,000 total silver coins next year!

I am curious how many 40%/90% each of you averages PER BOX. Also, what is the average number of boxes you go through each week?

I am averaging 1-40%/box, and less than 1-90%/box. I average 2 boxes/week (I know, small time compared to many others on this site)

:coffee2: I've never kept any records about how many 40%/90% found in each box. I've only been doing this since 12/2010. The first year finds were good than last year they were less & this year even less. For me this is a hobby not a business so it doesn't matter what I average for each box. It is the thrill of the hunt/find that I enjoy. What I find I just do what Iamrussell does: Keep stacking & stacking.

HH & Merry Christmas to Everyone

Have seen similar drop-off with my boxes, but will say that some awesome boxes have shown up sporadically too.

I'd say the same, about 2 yrs ago my average would be something out of every 4 boxes, now 1 in every 12 to 15 boxes if I'm lucky, and then it may only be a couple halves were as before if there was 1 there was 10 in the box, now it's far few and between, but some good ones do pop up still. Had some bad boxes yesterday. Seven boxes came in and there was 1 40% in all. 7. This is a change from averaging 1-4/ box. I think also the last 4 boxes last week were skunks as well. I have noticed the coins are different. I used to get a fair amount of marked coins, now they seem to be much cleaner

I'm on vacation in the Eastern US for the holidays, so I picked up $2,070 in halves...Still averaging 1-40%/box, and <1-90%/box, altho I did get my first Benjamin here...Amazing to me my average/box is the same as in the northwestern US where I live. I ordered a few more boxes, but they may not come in before I leave here....Here's to hoping they come in!
