I've hit some pretty good luck with nickels the last two days. $40 in rolls last night I hit a nice 43-P, a dateless buffalo, a 1988-S proof, and these two brilliant 1971-D examples.

Tonight I opened a Loomis box and found a 38-S: filling the #5 remaining hole in my wild-caught Jefferson set. (still need 50-D, 39-D, 39-S, and 43-D).

I also found another proof. I had only ever found two total proof nickels before and now I find two in two days.

...and I think I might have found a third. Not sure on this one though. It has a beautiful luster that doesn't really show up in the pictures. I *think* it is somewhat mirror-like, but I can't tell for sure. Is this a proof? Or just a really nice mint coin? Or has it been spiffed-up in some manner?

I might have to try to take some better pictures of this. It has almost a cobalt tinge to it. Are older proofs as deeply mirror-like as the newer ones? I'm really trying to figure out just what this is.

It's bizarre how this 68-S photographs like a normal nickel but looks so different to the naked eye.

Awesome finds. I am still looking for the same nickels as you for my folder. Maybe one day we will both complete our folders. Happy hunting!

I don't believe it's a proof. Just a nice business strike.
