One silver coin per week

As an effort to get out of a particularly nasty slump I have set an easy goal for myself which I plan to carry for the year. I have not the time or energy right now for high volume, not that I ever really did. I am aiming to find one silver coin per week. Just by having this goal it gets me searching and finding and one is probably a low number. I started in March and picked up a free 2014 planner from an unnamed vendor to keep myself accountable. I am searching between $50-$100 of dimes and $20 of nickels each day unless I can get half dollars in any sort of abundance. Work gets me to the banks almost daily so this isn't difficult.

So far in March:
1st full week: 1962 dime. Teller tray from a teller which I buy all of her Canadian coin once a month. She almost always has American silver mixed in with the Canadian. Ironically no Canadian silver yet.
2nd week: 1966 half and a 1964 quarter. Half from teller tray and the quarter from laundry money.
3rd week: 2 1963 red seal $5 US Notes, 2 silver dimes 59 and 62. The red seals caused a flury of activity when the teller pulled them out of her drawer. She did not realize what she ha and the other tellers noticed right quick.
This week so far: 1964 half and 1965 half. One from the same bank as the other also in a teller tray. I heard they had a bunch of rolled halves too so I bought some today and pulled the 1964. The rest will be mine tomorrow. Silver therapy. Pics! Sent from my iPhone using TreasureNet

I started at the beginning of the year. I had a 40% half and 3 Roosies. I wanted to find 1 a week too. I have found 1 40%er every week, plus I have found about 1 other silver coin a week too. I'm lucky if I do $500 a week. I do have luck finding them in the teller trays. Some tellers know why I'm there n what I'm looking for. My job takes me through 2 states, about 13 counties, and I pass by 100 banks. I'm in n out of stores all day long, and some of the stores buy the change off me. I keep it low key but I'm starting to see the finds add up.

I don't do big volume either - at least not compared to many others here. But I have a similar goal for myself. I'm trying to keep a one silver or better per day average till the end of the year. Today 3/24/14 is the 83rd day of the year and so far I've found 87 silver keepers (76 halves, 10 nickels and one silver Ike) this year. So, so far so good. But the year's still early and long skunk streaks or one or more nice scores can sure make a big difference in the numbers. Obviously Im hoping for one or more really nice scores this year so I can beat my goal early this year. :)

Good luck to you all too and H$H!

It is surprising how fast the small and infrequent finds do add to the collection. HH!

Those are some great pictures. I went to a new bank today and asked for $100 in halves, the one teller said we have a lot, so I said I'll take them. She came with an unopened box, this was my first full box. Unfortunately no silver but picked up 7 2002 and newer. They are hard to find so not a total loss. I haven't found a Ben yet, use to have some.but sold them.

Congrats on finding some silver. The small finds do add up if you keep with it. I have over 300 silver keepers for a little over 14 months of hunting. Most were small scores except for four: 23 silver halves in a teller tray, 30 silver halves in a box, 35 silver halves in CWR's, and my biggest score was 58 silver halves in a $240 cache of cwrs that included 11-Bens, 4- walkers, and 2-barbers. The rest have come in small groups like your score. They stack up nicely. Keep on Rolling!

Solid roll today!!!

Went to two banks on lunch today and scored big. First bank had two CWR which gave up a 1969 Ken. Went down the road to another bank I haven't been to in a while and they had $160 in CWR. $120 of them were clearly marked with a black sharpie the dates of the coins presumably in each roll. Normally, in my experience, this is not a good sign but I bought them anyway and as the teller was stacking them on the counter I see one roll is clearly labeled "1967"! Now I was starting to wonder...I really hope that is true. Turns out it was: a solid roll of 1967 Kennedy halves!!!

I have some more pictures on my work computer that I will have to upload tomorrow of all the marked rolls. It was a neat thing to see.

Total of 21 40% kens!! Enjoy!

You are on a roll! Congrats...keep on rolling.

Thanks! I'm sure next week will be back to 1 or 2 silver dimes...no complaints though!

Great score! Reminds me of a cwr I got a couple of years ago that had 1968D written in small letters on the outside of the roll. When I saw that I was sure hoping the wrapper matched the coins inside and sure enough I scored a solid roll of '68D's. Those are the scores u remember - well I sure do anyway. :)

Btw, that roll u got was sure clearly marked in big bold numbers on that light colored wrapper - good thing u got it before someone else did lol.

H$H!

Solid rolls are very exciting. Welcome to the "solid roll" club. I got lucky and got a solid mixed 40% roll about 2 months ago. Feels great opening the roll and sliding out all AG.

Thanks for the welcome but I have been a member for a while ;). It has been a few years since I have found a legitimate solid roll. The last time I was close was my avatar which was 19 in a roll and a lot of salted rolls.

HH!

Here is a picture of the rolls with all the dates written on them. You will see the 1967 in the upper left.

That's cool! If the rest of them are AU examples, I'd just set those rolls aside. There's always guys that don't do this looking to fill up a book!

I had a similar experience with a small bank here and a cwr that had 06' P&D on the outside.

Sure enough. Half & Half BU 06's that someone had taken out of the govt wrapper and just rewrapped.

Culled a single 1965 today from $110 in CWR.

When I dumped these coins I took them to a bank which happened to have a coin counter, I also have an account at this brand of bank. The teller actually broke the 11 rolls I gave her and ran them thought the counter. Half way through my meager transaction the bag filled up and it hadn't occurred to me at that point what was going on. She would have sold me the bag today but I didn't have a grand in my pocket :/. I asked her to hold the bag for me and she said she would. If she does this will become the first bag I will have been able to search. Looking forward to it!

Thanks, these are the first I have had the opportunity to buy. The teller had told me she actually got 3 of those bills from an ATM deposit! She had given one out earlier to another customer as regular change and didn't realize it.
