1936 for me, when I see a coin from the '30s or '40s I can't help but to think about the people that once spent it on some thing like a movie with their girlfriend and now spouse of 50-60 years!! Something to connect with the Greatest Generation.

Updated on 4-5-07, found my first commemorative :)

1892! That's sweet....

If I remember the box correctly it had a 1893 Columbian too. It was either the same box or the next box had both a 1950 Brooker T Washington and a 1954 Washington/Carver in it too.

I am still waiting for some of those early commemoratives, that Fort Vancouver half looks great.

My two oldest halfs found were a 1906 S and a 1902 S. The 1906 is in Fine to XF. I had posted a pic on one of my first posts here a few months ago. The 1902 is unfortunatly in bad shape. There is some weird thick green stuff on it, its scratched and looks like it might have been run over. The date and mint mark are in good condition though. :D

The oldest american non half was a 1869 two cent piece in poor condition. It was found at the coin return machine, not in a roll.
