I'm not positive on errors but I was thinking it could be what's referred to as a straight clipped planchet error which would explain why it's straight

I am not certain but it could be a straight clipped planchet...where the coins are cut out of the sheet of metal too close the the edge of the sheet metal resulting in a straight clip...

I just realized you already mentioned this as a possibility lol I feel dumb.
