I was only joking, BUT im willing to bet there was a point in time within the last 20 years. Someone turned in a Gold Eagle at the bank for deposit... It would not be trolling if the year was 1910....

My teller friend had a kid come in with a 10$ gold piece and asked if he can get a 10$ bill for it. This was about 3 years ago, but she did give him a ten for it [emoji57].

A manager at my local bank tells me a story about a lady that turned in all kinds of gold & silver coins a couple of years back. Lady's father passed away. Manager tried to convince the lady to sell at a coin/pawn shop because of their value. She didn't care about the value, she just needed to get rid of them.....sat in the vault until someone asked for them. Tellers didn't care about their value.

I remember reading on another site, a story about how a bank teller said an older lady came in wanting to exhange (4) $5 gold coins for $20. The teller insisted they were worth more, but she was adamant about just getting $20. Afterwards, the teller kept 1, and gave the other 3 to different tellers there.

Could you imagine...
