I sold some ikes for 1.10 a piece to a coin shop. I'm guessing ikes are ordered in 500 a bag?

Good luck! Hopefully you'll get some 40%ers at least.
I've ordered 2 1k bags of ikes before and found 4 40%ers. I sold them in lots of 100 on ebay for min $125 + Shipping. So profit of $9 per 100.. (I'll take 9% all day) but it took a while to sell 2k worth..

Since then I moved and cant order them anymore:-(

I would grab handfuls and do quick edge checks as they are huge and any silver peace Morgan's or Ike's will be easily seen. Then I would start checking for errors.

Some San Francisco Ikes are clad, some are 40% silver. All were for collectors only, not circulation. Good luck on your hunt!

I've sold Ikes by the $500 batch for $1.08 per coin. Not a lot of profit, but when I order $1,000 I either get some silver dollars (Have gotten both Morgan and Peace in the bags) or I sell them for $1,080, which is still an $80 profit for less than an hour's work. I can't get them often, but when the banks have them built up to a full bag (Yes they are $1,000 bags, not $500) they will give them to me. Always worth the effort. :-)

I sorted one bag for the years with variety.

I'm waiting the magnifying glass I ordered to come to inspect the ones I sort.

Finds so far:
1 - 1971-S (Silver)
1 - 1976-S (Silver)
3 - 1973-D

I plan to sort through the 2nd bag today. From first glance when I was stacking them no silver.

What does the canvas bag that the ikes came in look like? Nice results so far! Looking forward to hearing the update from bag 2.

Neat that you could even get your hands on old canvas bags. Thank you for sharing the picture:)

Those bags are almost as cool as the Ikes. I've snagged a few cool mint bags over the years: official US Mint cents, dimes and quarters bags. I think they are property of US govt.
