Was dumping a few rolls of pennies, nickels and dimes and when cashing out I saw a lone 40%er in the teller. Asked if I could buy it and walked out with a nice '68-D. Got to the truck and realized it's a very nice double headed '68-D, my first double headed silver. I did find one double headed clad last year. Cool and weird.

U got a pic?

Aren't both sides stamped at the same time, thus making a two headed coin impossible without tampering? :cat:

I guess you have a magician's coin there . A lot of these have a Mexican 20 centavo copper (bronze ?) coin inside them . I'm told that if
you drop them on edge on a counter you can open it , or put it in a jar and shake it vigorously - might work also .

I've found a handful of magician coins and I don't think this is one. I assume it's just a novelty someone made out of two 1968 halves. It sounds like a normal 40%er to me.

I found 2 double-head coins but both are clad; I also found 2 double-tail coins, one is 90% silver which you can see the mintmark of "D" on one side. The other is clad. I don't keep them.

I found 3 or 4 silver magician coins a while back in one box.Still have them. The clad ones Iv always gotton 10$ plus for on ebay.

All the 2 headed ones though never open, glued shut. Must be something to do with the trick.
