got one at a corn field last spring. it was toast. specs are extremely rare 1856 (2000 minted) worth $7000 in Good condition- to 1858, still worth $$$$. 4.67 grams and 88% copper.

Thanks guys for having put my faith back into this hobby to be able to find the most unusual. Appreciate your finds & comments. Now if I can only find my very first 1909-S VDB after 50+ years hunting, I'll be happy.

I will now echo your post, got my 2 "less than the jackpot" in reject trays, dug a '09 VDB that was crusty at the initials:-(

Not roll hunted, but on Christmas eve 2015 I dug these two stuck together back to back. Didn't really expect these so they went through the cleaning tumbler. Dug on a southern Michigan lakeshore. FE is 1858.

This is why I hate the idea of the penny going away. If they recall them the same way Canada did, just think how many of these might be permanently lost!
