Hi Everyone,

Wanted to share our outstanding February half dollar box hunting results with you all. It turned out to be our fourth best month since we started hunting.

We did a total of 48 boxes over four weeks.

The first two weeks we found mostly 40% with a few 90% sprinkled in. The first two weeks' 28 boxes yielded 6 x 90% and 35 x 40% including a Franklin and a beat-to-hell 2004-S silver proof.

The third week started off pretty normal until near the end of the week when one roll in one of our boxes contained 3 x BU 1964 halves. Only one other silver in the box... That made us think WOW, that's unusual. Wonder if there are a few loaded boxes out there with a bunch more BU 1964's? Our 10 boxes that week yielded 8 x 90% and 7 x 40% including two Franklins.

Well, we found a whole lot more of the BU 1964's in the fourth week. We did ten boxes and had 4 skunks. The other six boxes yielded as follows:

0 x 90% :: 1 x 40%
1 x 90% :: 5 x 40%
2 x 90% :: 3 x 40%
8 x 90% :: 9 x 40% (BU 1964's)
13 x 90% :: 14 x 40% (BU 1964's)
21 x 90% :: 7 x 40% (BU 1964's)

Incredible seeing blast white rim after blast white rim and scoring '64 after '64! A couple were enders and one roll had FIVE. As I previously mentioned, thanks to this last week, February turned out to be our fourth best month ever.

Total: 48 boxes yielding 59 x 90% and 81 x 40% for a total of 33.32ozt. No sign of any more boxes like these so far in March. Enjoy the pics!

OH!! And I found my first CRH GOLD while dumping! While one of the tellers had the coin counter open I noticed a small ring in the internal reject bin. Was able to grab it, turns out to be 10k gold, 1.7 grams. Not bad for free!

Those 64s look nice. Sometimes dealers pay extra for BU rolls like that. If you plan to sell them, I would recommend taking them to a coin show or throwing them up on ebay. HH!

48 boxes from A SINGLE bank with 1 courier means you wear out your welcome real fast ----------------and you get the rest of us cut off sooner than never. if you are spreading the picks & dumps around at a group of banks, that's OK.

managers & upper levels tend to notice things like this (and crooks who see an easy score in the parking lot)---- now for the firestorm to begin__________

One heck of month! Those numbers are more for a year for me. I don't have the same throughput you do, but your percentages are pretty awesome!!

Nice month! Only thing to add is those coins went through a bin with other coins and I'm sure picked up numerous dings and scratches. They are probably AU, doubt they're BU.

I am spreading my pickups and dumps, thanks for checking. I'm not new to the game. I have three regular pickups and eight dump banks to choose from. They all get rotated and everyone is used to seeing me. As for the courier, I couldn't care less about them. They've got a contract with the bank.

I knew when I posted BU you would come in and say AU.

Thanks! I know they will get rolled and separated from our regular finds. I'll be sure to seek a premium when it comes time to sell!

LOl yea I think Avago has quite a network going. Great work and impressive results. You keep the hop alive. Feb was the WORST month I've had CRHing. Thank goodness things have picked up for me in March. First box 1 64 one 67, second box skunk so I am breaking out of the skunk zone. Avago do you dump at Queenstown bank?

Glad to hear you're breaking out of skunksville! No, Queenstown is out of state for me :)

Hey new to this CRH, was wondering how I go about ordering a whole box of halves? My bank has been shocked by me requesting just 10-15 rolls.

It depends on the bank. Maybe try different branches and see what they say. Make sure you take the whole box at once and DO NOT take the searched coins back to the same bank! Welcome aboard!

Yes when you ask for halves you should find one bank that is receptive to you (that you are a member of) . Ask them if they would be willing to order a box of halves -they are $500 so make sure you have that on hand when you are ready to pick up the box.
You can also line up your dump bank (a different bank!!!). I either pick one where they have a machine that you cannot buy the coins off, one that never gets halves or where there are teller collectors (so you don't dump on top of good coins). I told my dump bank I was starting an account specifically to bring $500 in halves at a time and if that was a problem I would start an account elsewhere. They are totally cool and make it like clockwork. Also find out if they want the coins re rolled or loose (preferable as its less work). Then do about ten boxes and post your stuff to keep us entertained!

Ok cool. I've picked up 3 different banks this week but no more than 15 rolls. There's a little podunk branch not far from my house I got 15 from last night and they seemed fine. Was going to ask them if I could do it weekly. And I only know of 3 branches that have coin machines so I'm using them to dump, so there's no rerolling them. They've accepted my other coin deposits but today I have $350 to deposit. Thank you for your info!! [emoji1360][emoji1360]
