I found this bicentennial today, which looks silver, but it doesn't have an s mint mark. It weighs exactly 11.5 grams and I weighed another bicentennial that weighs 11.3 grams.

Is this a known error? Did I stumble upon a rare error? Or is this not possible?

It could have been plated . I have one too. I'll check the weight of mine and let you know.

That would be perfect. Thank you, Sir!

The weight is correct, but the edge of the coin should have a clad layered look to it. I bank on plated.

Yeah, I've never seen a 40% look like that on the edge. I was just stumped by the weight.

The one that I have weighs 11 grams. About the same as clad .

Hmmm, the plot thickens. I'll see if anyone else chimes in, but I think everyone is probably right about it being plated. I'm going to keep it because it's unusual.

I tend to think that a silver coin would weigh a little more than only a .2 gram difference vs clad.
