Box of Pennies Contaminated??

I bought two boxes of pennies today and as I was doing one box I started to notice many of the coins had a white/green/blue like residue on them. Some of it looks like verdigris. I found 55 wheat pennies in one box, which is weird because I average only 14. What do you think happened? Any help/thoughts would be much obliged.

The shiny chromatic ones look like there were subject to heat. Might have been in a
fire and sprayed down causing the others to corrode.

Take a torch to a copper penny, it will look just like those pictured.

Someone's collection was either kept in a damp place, or was subjected to a flood or something else that caused them to get wet.

They look similar to my wheats after I dig and tumble them.

I agree with Fist Full of Dirt, looks like someone dumped their dig finds. I do the same with common wheats that I find that look similar.

Thanks for the input! They seem to be mostly common dates. Think I'll send them back into the wild.
