I've found some interesting grease filled die coins before, but not to this level.
I almost wonder if it was caused by grease.
Got it in change from my morning coffee.

I don't know. I thought about a washing machine and then realized that the high relief is beautiful. No scratches that I can see around the perimeter.
I hope the experts weigh in on it.
There is some very knowledgeable people here.

I could be wrong but due to the high spot details being so strong, lettering and details outward from the high spots being weak and the somewhat roundish rims, I believe that it may be due to Die Adjustment Strike or Die Test Strike.

It took me several days of reading about test dies and strikes.
Thanks a bunch Frank!
Now, I've a new obsession for my sniper eyes...Pattern coins!!
Such subtle differences.
Whoever told me that I am looking too closely... I get it now!

It certainly does!
I'm going to post a 2019 Denver cent that I found in a roll yesterday later today that has a very obvious extra thickness on the 9 and on LIB of Liberty.
More than double the thickness that it should be!
Edit: as far as pattern coins go.. I thought I was looking closely before!
Nope!
Every coin I pick up, I spend at least ten minutes now on studying every aspect of the coin.
I did come across a 2014 P dime yesterday that has a really fine and sharp and smaller than normal designers initials on it.
It takes my mind off things.
