any reason you and others save Canadian? I try to get rid of mine and the bank won't take it back...lol

I'm saving canadian so that when the dolar is worth about 80 cents canadian I can cash them in and get a bonus versus the dollar.

(Only sorta kidding on that)

I also have a LOT of other coins that keep coming up. I received two Estonia coins in the past month. And Bahamas, Philipines, Mexico, balboa, Venezuela, and some I don't even know what they are. I"ll list them all at the end of the year. :-)

Yup foreign currencies are leaving the dollar in the dust -


British pound - as of this morning it's slightly beyond 2-to-1.

Euro - up and beyond 1.5-to-1


Others that are catching up quick or have reached parity:

Canadian $1 - goes above and below parity

Swiss franc - 95¢ to the US $

Australian $1 - 93¢ to the US $

I have a few reasons:
1) Because I can.
2) Because they are different than your standard US coins
3) I collect Canadian coins as well as US coins
4) There is no ban on melting Canadian coins.

Note: I don't plan on saving every Canadian coin I ever find. Just enough to fill my collection. I will still post what was found when searching, but that doesn't automatically make them all keepers.
