Appeal to Michigan CRH's. "UCRHA"

United Coin Roll Hunters Association.

New Rule. (LIKE A MAN RULE in the beer commercial)

Please if you buy Brinks boxes. please do not return them in the Brinks wrappers.

It seems the last couple of weeks Me and another hunter in my area (DETRIOT BRANCH) are getting re wrapped Brinks rolls in a new box.

Sounds strange and I'm not sure Brinks would ship them back out like this but we have been getting boxes with one end real loose, like someone opened one end, searched, put them back and curled them over buy hand....... Or their machine is getting sloppy on one side.

In the past I have gotten them from brinks where the other end was folded over. Clearly repackaged. And a couple of weeks ago brinks brought other banks bagged coins to my branch to fill my order. I refused to take them and haven't got any like that since.

I have also stopped at banks that are not my normal pickups and they said they had a box, and they bring them out & the box is open. She shows them to me and they look like they are fresh. But I pull a roll out and turn it over and it's folded over. She said a customer brought them in. I advised her to ship them back out. Now this guy pulled a fast one on the bank but not me.

So I ask myself. Would Brinks just put them in a new box and ship them out?
Because most of the banks have to break them open and bag them before they ship them out.

In any case Here is my appeal.

PLEASE IF YOU MUST RETURN YOUR BOX THIS WAY TAKE A BLACK MARKER OR ANY COLOR YOU LIKE AN STRIKE A LINE ACROOS THE SIDE OF EVERY ROLL FORCING BRINKS TO DO THEIR JOB AND VERIFY THE ACCURACY & REROLL THAT DUMP.

I for one would appreciate it. Doesn't guarantee I'll get better boxes just not a complete skunk.

If your working out of the Detroit branch of Brinks. Please open an account at TCF Bank and dump into the coin counter and save us all some time.

Thanks. Mojo

I don't usually get Brinks, they don't produce to good here. I get my boxes from another source. I do re-wrap some of the machine rolls and drop them off in $250 at a time dumps. They are easy to spot when cold calling. I've even had them bring some out of the vault. I turn them down. This game is never easy. Sorry, I don't feel the need to mark them. If I see a machine roll folded at one end, I know it has been searched........probably by me. I think someone turned in a box of re rolls and the bank just tried to pass them off as a "fresh" box from Brinks. They don't do that here in CA. The tellers must be nicer here.
Sorry about your troubles Prez....LOL

In all of my searching I have only gotten three boxes from Brinks, two of which were skunks.

I never make it south to where you are but it would not matter as my turn-ins are always loose. It would take me too long to try and reroll the halves in the original wrappers.

Chances are the Michigan Re-roller does not read these forums, but you never know.

Happy Hunting,

Mojo,

Although I have never seen this in a actual Brinks box, I have seen it in another brand of halves. I get coins from a bank here that uses Dunbar coin services. Normally, Dunbar uses these plain brown machine rolled wrappers that simply say $10 halves. But I have received some of their boxes that have a mixture of the brown wrapper rolls along with Brinks rolls just as you described. I figured someone was returning their dumps to the bank and they forwarded the Brinks rolls to the coin company who simply recycled them. I got a box recently that had the brown plain label rolls, some of the aforementioned Brinks rolls and two or three CWI rolls that looked as if they were opened and resealed as described above.

What I cannot figure out is how they can get the coins out and put them back in so well. Although one end is kind of tucked under, the rolls are still fairly tight and not torn in any way. My paper rolls are mangled when I open them.

All the Brinks rolls that have this look never yield, so they must be rejects. But again, I have never seen such rolls from an actual Brinks box. The Brinks box rolls I get are always unopened from how they look.

I know that on several occasions as I stated above the returned rolls in the brinks boxes and wrapper has been shipped back to Brinks, and labeled as unopened returns. Or customer rejected them like they just returned them and had all the unopened ends face up. And I have actually received them from Brinks in this manner. I just take them anyway and dump them in my normal manner as to not disrupt the flow. But it is very annoying and should be frowned upon by our brotherhood.
I do up to 15 boxes a week for the last 3 years and have seen a lot of inconsistency. My banks know me very well and would not lie to me. If they said that's the way Brinks brought them than that is the way they came.

Yea I did say I didn't like you avatar. But it's your choice just a little distracting. Sorry if it was offensive. just was agreeing with Cat.

I have received Indian casino rolls in Brinks boxes about a year ago. Some produced though.

As far as re rolling them that is how I started before I found the coin counting machines. You simply pick at one end with your finger all the way around the inside of the rim and open the end without tearing. push the coins out with your thumb from the other end, search and slide the coins back in on a slight angle. Than roll the end back down or fold it over.

Anyway I just hope that some one who does this would see my post and realize that they too could get these back just as well as anyone else that buys from brinks.

So please stop this behavior.

Thanks for all your replies. Mojo

I reroll my brinks coins in they're rolls, but I always put intitials in BIG letters on the side, that way they shouold have to reroll them. Should I not do that either?

that wouldn't be hard to do....you can buy one of those packing tape dispensers at the dollar store. i can see someone rewrapping, folded edge down and taping the box shut then brinks just picking up at one location, assuming the box was unopened, and dropping it off to another bank.
i hate that too BTW.

I have recieved Brinks dumps (verified with a TNet member because they were his) from Dunbar. I think just interchange when either of them is to lazy to go get more halves.

If I had to re-wrap my dumps, I would have given this up a long time ago.

Yeah.. I've gotten someone else's dumps in customer rerolled halves before from Brinks.. I wonder if it is employee linked. That's why I changed bank source. I now dump at Brinks banks.

This happened to me last week with a Dunbar box. The box was taped shut and the rolls just had the ends folded over. They probably just weigh the box and ship it back out. It wasn't even one of their boxes. Teller said that's how it came in.

I always find with loomis boxes the following
1. Box reglued
2. Broken rolls in an undamaged box
3. Coin removed from the top and handrolled back down.
I find one if not all of the above each and every week with my 12 boxes.

Re: Appeal to Michigan CRH's. "UCRHA"

What I don't understand is why CRHers who live in an area with lots of banks with free coin counters would ever choose to re roll halves into the brown, generic rolls???

Today for example I picked up some handrolls at a bank. Of course it was a nice round number like $300 worth, which should have tipped me off it was a dump. Anyway, all were dumps without one keeper and many typical marked coins I see in the Brinks boxes.

My area has many banks with free coin counters. Why would a CRHer need to ever turn in hand rolls in such a city? It is clear these coins were not being saved by a real collector. Many of the same ilk I see weekly in the boxes.

Kind of off topic but I don't understand it.

My guess would be that the banks with free coin counters also have the best boxes. Therefore the hunters don't want to dump into their own boxes.

We are seeing the same deal in Ohio. The second and third boxes I searched were all opened and resealed by Brinks. They were the last boxes I ever bothered to get.
