Have you tried different types of light at different angles? Also I think Macro is a must.

Try a more direct lighting source. It seems that you're using an ambient light source. Use a desk lamp or something similar and try to get the reflection of the light just barely off of the coin, if that makes any sense.

Try a Green Backround.

For some reason Since I Have
been Placing a piece of Green
Construction Paper down I Get less
Reflection.
takes less trys to get better pics
