The mint made billions of them. I wouldn't hold on to them right now, but in the future, they might be worth a bit of money. Some 1976 coins with the "S" mintmark contain 40% silver. That includes the quarter, half dollar, and the Ike dollar. You can tell if they're silver if they have a solid silver rim, not a copper-nickel rim like we have today. Also, apparently, some coins intended for the general public (business strikes) were made out of 40% silver. These are errors, and are worth a good wad of money :wink:
