I have the opportunity to buy 100 Morgan Dollars dated 1878-1921 in XF- AU condition (some slightly cleaned) for $1500. I read this in a newspaper ad close to where I live. Apparently some guy's father had passed away and is trying to get rid of his collection. Is this too good to be true? $1500 and 100 were mentioned twice in the description, therefore it's clearly not a mistake.

From my calculations... 100 Morgan Dollars is equal to 2,069.75 worth of silver.

There are 77.3451 troy ounces of silver in 100 silver Morgan dollars.

2,069.75-1500.00= $569.75

That's a good deal if they are real. Get them to meet you at a coin shop, that will tell if they are real or not. If they are real the could be worth several times that if there are a few rare ones, if they are fake they are worthless.

Yeah check it out, but at a coin shop , if they are real the guy will probably figure out that they are worth way more.

Also, it's gonna be important to check them ALL, all 100, because that's just how it should be. Don't check a few and buy the lot.

Sounds like a good deal to me , it is not hard to tell if they are counterfeits i collect Morgans i just purchased this 1878 S first year issue and the first thing i did was have it looked at by a coin expert who said it is the real deal he graded it Gem BU MS 65 not to bad for 67.95 + 2.00 shipping 69.95 total, he also said he would buy it for 200.00 in that condition the only thing i did was take it out of it,s very old green snap tight that was pretty messed up and put it in a new air tight snap . You can get double back your expense on E-Bay  Jim
