Jeff's right! The 1943-D cent is almost certainly not silver. In 1943, to free up more copper for wartime uses, the U.S. Mints struck zinc-plated steel cents instead. On the remote chance that it might be an error coin struck on a silver planchet, it wouldn't hurt do the magnet test anyway, but I'll bet it's steel. Here's a link to more information:

Yeah, I read about the magnet thing & got one of my fridge. It did pick it up. Oh well worth the ask. Thank you very much! :)
