The US Mint has recently discovered that some of their Birth Sets contain 2012-S silver proofs instead of clad proofs.
U.S. Mint finding small numbers of mispackaged Birth sets | CoinWorld
The mint wants you to exchange your silver half for a "proper" clad.
I can see a conversation:
Mint Employee: How can I help you?
Person: I would like to change my silver half to a clad half because I like that orange on the edge of it.
Mint Employee: I would love to do that!
Person: I really like that clad. I am also a CRHer. I always can find a lot of clad, and I always throw the silver back. I always melt down the clad for 10 cents. I have gotten a nice profit every time.
Mint Employee: Are you a blonde?
