Penny's/dimes when did they change

I have been pulling a lot of coins from the beach on vacation with my F4..This thing works great in the sand by the way.

Lots of pennies and dimes, few quarters. When (year) did the pennies and dimes change?

I have them soaking in lemon juice and club soda cleaning.

Got a couple early 60`s coins in the mix.

Thanks

The last silver dimes were produced for circulation dated 1964, anything 1965 and newer is copper-nickel with regards to circulation dimes.

Midway through 1982 the penny was changed from 95% copper to copper-plated zinc. Any penny dated 1981 or before is for sure 95% copper while 1982 dated coins can either be copper or zinc, anything dated 1983-present is for sure zinc.
