I put the coin in the flip.

Well, its generally called a capped bust, that is the bust on the front (that is Liberty) has a cap on her head. This is in contrast to the draped bust where Liberty's hair is simply draped.

you did really well, you bought it for a 1/3 of it's value...

I don't know where you got it, but if it were me I'd keep shopping there.

Nice Liberty Cap half dollar! As long as it's not bent, you got a great deal.

It should be lettered on the edge and not reeded on a 35.

IMO ,Without closer a closer look ,other than the place on her head [over the eye & ear] where she looks to have a minor "Busted Cap" or scrape ; it's condition is great and as I said IMO you made yourself a good deal. I prefer to have my coins esp, halves & dollars to be toned/tarnished than look to be Mint State [shiny new looking]. I cherry pick probably too much so the most I would have paid for that coin is around $70.00 and would gladly have paid what you did. GOOD JOB A funny thing also I never knew they were lettered on the side like that , ARE? Seated Liberty Halves or any other older coins that way. "you learn something new everyday"

The lettered edge stopped in 1836 with the advent of steam power and a new faster way of minting with a different mold set up. So you happen to have one of the last of those.
Speaking of toned.. I recently found this Guy metal detecting.

I think you did ok but I will say that it looks to have had an old cleaning and was re-toned. Also looks to have slight green discoloration on the obverse below the bust although the pics are not great. I would have bought it for $30 though for sure good detail nice coin.....

Dang! was that thing underwater or was one side exposed to direct sunlight. I saw a Morgan detected in the desert that was that dark/black .

Saltwater ..this is how it came up...
In a cookie crust of silver oxide.
I don't want to post all over this, thread though.

This is one side of the crust with the impression in it.
You can see 1837 in reverse.
