I agree with the others but IMHO none of them compares to the raw beauty and appeal of the 1916 "FH" Standing Liberty Quarter in Mint State and which is a Type 1! While many Collectors collect many different Series and Denominations of U.S. coinage but even if they did not collect Standing Liberty Quarters, most would still tell you that the 1916 is the most sought after out of all of U.S. coins.

Note: For those who don't know, the "FH" designation stands for Full Head.

The oldest is obvious....the 1916. Rarest? Probably a toss-up between the 1916 and the 1918/17S but there is no exact breakdown on how many 18/17's were made. They're the two most valuable in just about any grade except maybe MS65FH.

Yes, "There was a modification in 1917 to cover Liberty's exposed breast."

Rarest might be the specimen coins, I think there are close to 6 known and I don't recall seeing any coming up for auction ever. I think they were made instead of proofs since there are no proofs that are known.

When he asked about ones "to look for" I assumed he meant business strikes.....something you might find detecting.
