I have lots of different types of coins from France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, East and West Germany, Russia, Korea, Mexico, Canada and the good ole USA. Years range from 30s to 90s. Can anyone tell me when these different countries stopped using silver? I also have some coins that appear yellow but are obviously not gold. Can anyone tell me what metal these are made from? Mostly Korean late 60s - late 70s. Almost look like tarnished brass but surely not.

Get yourself a World Coins book. Most of the listings tell you the composition of the coins.
