1830-small-letters-vs-large-letters-capped-bust-half-dollar.jpg ---My opinion is you got a great deal ! Any bust half for less then 20 bucks is a steal. You have the small letter variant which is the most common for the 1830 half, but still a nice buy :occasion14:

I would say yes there is a possibility that it is a large letter coin. 1830 had a small O large O and large letters 3 types. large letters is valued exponentially higher than the other two. I found an 1830 half this past year very cool. yours has better detail. I know I wouldnt want to sell it for 12.50 or even 25.50.

The value of that in its condition is around $65, which means you might get $30 out of it, but you probably won't sell it for a long, long time!

Is it just me, or isn't there a real problem with the finish... Its hard to tell from the photos included, but that finish gives me the willies.

I thought so originally, but I thought it was a good gamble.

That is more than just improperly cleaned. There is definitely something going on with this coin.

Thanks! It was mixed in a bin of half dollars at an antique store. I wish there is more, but I am happy I found it!
