found this unknown coin/token in a park in Coquitlam, west coast of Canada (penny for scale)

the area has some history, but nothing before the early 1800s

If it's lead, it's not likely a coin or token.

What makes you think that it may be made of Lead? IMHO, there are way too many details on both sides to be a Lead Seal, so it is likely a coin and I would lean towards early Spanish.

I was pretty much just managing my expectations, since the oldest coin I've ever found was an 1899 V-nickel. the coin rang up on my machine as a solid 80 which is usually a copper penny or lead (but can be silver in this case!)

odd to find it in this area though so I thought a lead seal was more likely than a Spanish Reale. will post in the Cob forum to see if anyone can nail down the date range since the year stamp has chipped off :(
