Error/Damaged 2000 U.S. Silver proof Quarter

Back in 2000 my lovely wife gave me a 2000 U.S. Silver Set For Christmas.

Well since silver prices are high I decided to sell it on E-bay.
As I was in the middle of listing it I noticed there is a mark on the
New Hampshire quarter. The mark looks like the Die hit it on the edge.
The case is in great shape so this had to happen at the mint.
So does this make it an error or damaged and does this increase the value?
Any info on this would help .

Thanks
Diamond Spike

Unfortunately no.

The mint has been hounded for years about stuff like this. Proofs are supposed to be as close as you can get to flawless coins, yet every year more and more people are finding what you found. Scratches, rub marks, even outright mars like you've got there.

Every time the mint comes out with a new series, Coin World and Numismatic News are flooded with letters from unhappy people.

This is simply a lack of caring about the product by an employee of the mint, and poor quality control. :(

Yep. Sad thing is that it devalues the process a lot, and can/will affect the value of coins in the future.

Along the lines of quality... when hunting nickels, I can pick out a '90 coin without even looking at the date. They are much less defined and are much more shallow than those of earlier years. It says to me that they care less about what coins really look like. They just change designs every so often to get people to collect them.
