I am going to have my coins graded before selling, and need to know the pros and cons of the different services offered by ngs, anacs, etc. The most reliable way to get the coins graded for sale. All opinons appreciated. Thanks

NGC is the official grading company of the American Numismatic Association.

Thanks oldplace and Ron,I will use NGC, good hunting

NGC is the official grader on ANA because they pay a fee to be called the official grader.

Fees for grading can be steep. Make sure your collection is worth slabbing.

Your best bet is to use one of the three major services, NGC, PCGS or ANACS. Most everything other TPG is worthless. Just look at the price and requirements, use some grade A common sense and make your decision from there.

If you're doing many you want to be a subscriber. At $15 to $30 a pop it doesn't pay otherwise unless you only do high value coins.

And if they grade you unfavorably (not uncommon, especially with coins that grade differently obverse vs. reverse) you're out the $$ to resubmit. There is no appeal process.
