    Really Cool Antique Hammer

I bought this hammer at an estate sale this weekend. I thought it looks pretty cool. I dont really know anything about it. The head is very unusual. Can anyone tell me how old it is, and what it was used for (besides the obvious)? The hammer is marked C.S. Coburne & Co. 9/16 (it's hard to make out, I'm not sure about the first initials of the makers name). Thanks!

It's probably a tack hammer used in leathermaking. Is the head magnetic?
    BTW- It's C.S. OSBORNE & CO, I believe. They've been around a good while-http://www.csosborne.com/
