MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) -- All the world's a stage at some of Minnesota's bars. A new state ban on smoking in restaurants and other nightspots contains an exception for performers in theatrical productions. So some bars are getting around the ban by printing up playbills, encouraging customers to come in costume, and pronouncing them "actors."

The customers are playing right along, merrily puffing away - and sometimes speaking in funny accents and doing a little improvisation, too.

Nope sorry the County Health Dept told them "Nice try but you're still breaking the law so stop."

Wow! No wonder taxes are so high. Look at all the bars the government bought in Minn.
What?
The government didn't buy the bars?
They're just telling the land, building and business OWNERS what they can do in/on their OWN property?
Well, seig heil comrades!
This type of government interference in the lives and legal businesses just p!$$es me off!

If this is for the 'common good of the public', why don't the owners turn their bars into member-only clubs. This way if one did not like the rules, (such as smoking permitted on premises), then take off and don't let the door hit you in the donkey on the way out.
"Are you a member sir? Sorry, only members allowed, just fill out this form and you can have a free 3-day trial membership to see if you enjoy drinking and enjoying the amenities here. Here is a copy of the rules. If you accept all the rules, your lifetime membership card will be mailed to you. The cost for membership is $1.00." Enjoy!

I was downtown Rochester, Minnesota in january's thaw and the streets are full of cigarett butts all over the place. The spring thaw will warsh them down the storm drains and all the states along the mississippi. Look out Louisiana,a million tons of cigarett butts coming your way. It's sad to see it.That's what smoking bans have created.

Sorry but smokers, not all but most, have ALWAYS tossed their cig butts on the ground. Even locally where cig containers have been put up you see cig butts everywhere. Some smokers don't care where it goes when they are done.

One more reason supporters use to encourage a ban...
