Got out for a couple hours late yesterday afternoon. Hunted a mowed field while a skunk dug grubs about 60 yards away. I think he made out better than I did. I crossed a stone wall into a wooded area for the last 15 minutes of the hunt and when I came out, I picked at least 15 deer ticks off me. Hate those little buggers as I have already gotten Lyme once but fortunately caught it early. Be careful out there! (my thanks to Hill Street Blues for that one).

Yep, pulled 3 off me already. Two of them had bitten in. Fortunately they weren't deer ticks, but I'm certain they'll get at me too. Last year I had 19 bites, about half of them deer ticks.

I thought the tick reports were exagerrated until yesterday. Even as I was driving home, I looked down and spotted 3 more crawling on me. Even though they exited through the window at 40mph,they probably survived. Every one of mine were the tiny deer ticks.

Those little buggers are faster than hell! If you do manage to catch one, it will run for your fingernail, and then appear again running like crazy up your finger. Regular tick bites burn and itch. But a deer tick bite is 10x as nasty - the burn & itch of a bite will last for weeks. The best ointment I've found is not Benadryl or Neosporin, but is "Country Comfort Herbal Savvy".
