Hi,
I borrowed a 10g gold bar from a friend of mine. Not sure where he got it. I wanted to see what the readings would be on a CTX 3030. I am getting 11.43, 12.45 every once in a while and I am air checking with every program I have on the machine, jays gold, beach, desanto beach. I have other small gold items that are spot on the 12 line every time. Have any of you guys experienced this? Is this a fake gold bar possibly?
Thank you,
Dan ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1541373255.159174.jpg

Would be nice. I am just trying to understand the readings bouncing around on this during air testing. Other gold objects I test stay on the 12- line and don’t bounce. This thing goes from 11.43, 10.43 and then sometimes it reads 12.45. I am just trying to understand these changes for this particular item using 17in Coil, not sure if that makes a difference.

Gold, depending on alloy, size, shape, and a host of other factors, many having to do with your detector, will have a wide range of readings. Your narrative is not unusual.

Time for more coffee.

Thank you, I had a feeling. Also, for those of you guys that own a CTX or equinox. I got this Bow case reg cost $100. Got it used on FB market place for $5. I cut the plastic tubs out and it fits perfectly with the 17in Coil. I will add more foam on other side and Velcro straps for rest of accessories needed. Also added the carbon fiber screen protector that supposedly helps to reduce sun glare from any direction when at the beach or wherever you go ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1542081886.299463.jpg

Yeah, My first year with a CTX.. (detecting 29 years with Whites, Garrett and Fisher).. I love the CTX, but, its tough for me to ID things compare to my other machines.. 12-43 is a Memorial penny... but, I have dug worn Barber dimes at the same number... I usually dig anything with a 10-11-12 first number anyway... Also my depth is always 2" deeper than what it reads... how about you ? I can't complain, retired and dug 163 silvers so far this year in central, NY
