Well, after a summer of water/beach hunting I think I found the water set up that I like best.

I tried multiple ways to turn the Deus into a good fresh water beach/surf machine and I think this is it.

I bought this case off of ebay from a guy in Russia. Very quick delivery. https://www.ebay.com/itm/XP-deus-Waterproof-box-with-fastening-on-the-stem-of-the-detector/172933813483

Why I like it better then regular cell phone holders is, #1 it has the Deus male attachment device molded into the back. Couldn't be easier to attach to the shaft. #2 The silicone face conforms much better then a cell phone case and it's like it is not even there when pushing buttons and making program adjustments.

The down side is the face of the case is kind of sticky and grains of sand like to stick to it. A quick rinse in the lake takes care of it, but it is still annoying. Hopefully with use, the stickiness will go away. I only have 2 hunts with it but it appears to be holding up OK.

I used RG cable, like the kind you would use for cable TV. There are many web pages detailing how to cut the cable, etc. I then bought a large roll of Velcro tape from Harbor freight and used it to attach the RG cable to the coil and the detector shaft. This makes the job of removing the cable much easier when charging or changing coils. At first I used black electricians tape, which was more secure but was a pain in the butt to remove.

I also left extra cable near the top so when I go in neck deep water I can remove the remote control and attach it to the highest point on my waders suspenders to keep it out of the water ...for extra protection from getting wet.

Attaching the cable to the back of the water proof case was easily done by using Gorilla tape.

Set up this way, along with the HF elliptical coil, I believe I have the best fresh water detector there is. Especially on beaches loaded with nails, wire, etc.

I rarely use my either of my minelabs any more and I think they both will be going on Ebay this spring. I will keep the AT Pro as a all around back up machine.

I've got a similar setup. One thing you can really improve on is your coax cable. I used RG179 teflon coax which is small enough to run inside the shaft. It's ultra light, durable Teflon and looks sharp too.
$6.29 Coax: http://r.ebay.com/v5BYTw
I use a releasable/reusable cable tie at the coil: http://a.co/0QMRQH1

The only minor annoyance is when I have to break it down really small for travel in my suitcase. I have to take off the coil to pull the coax through the shaft to break it down all the way.

That is a neat way to do it except it wont work with the HF coils. The battery is in the stem and sealed. That coax would make a neater looking setup, even if running on the outside of the stems. I'll look into it...thx
