http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-double-blind-test.htm
A double blind test is a scientific test in which neither test subjects nor administrators know who is in the control group and who is in the experimental group. The intent is to create an unbiased test environment, ensuring that the results of the testing are accurate and will stand up to analysis by other members of the scientific community. The concept of a double blind test is an excellent example of the scientific method, since it aims to be entirely objective and potentially repeatable.

Note that the word group is used ...Also note the word Subjects

Did anyone notice these were closed glass bottles? I've never tried to locate something in closed glass, but I will. Anyone ever try this?

Nope. He proved that every single person who tried to dowse could not do it. I can only assume that by making that statement,, you didn't bother to watch the video...

A call went out to all dowsers in the UK, many showed up to participate, none of them scored above mean chance expectation- which means picking at random.

And the test was double-blind. The person administering the test had no idea where the water was. It was placed beforehand by persons who were not present when the test was conducted.

If anyone wants to see what any given dowser may classify as "proof" of dowsing, I'd suggest looking at this video (for everyone rational- I guarantee you will laugh- hard... The comedy starts at 1:34)

Seems to be a difference with a metal top on a glass bottle than a plastic top. I tried silver since I have never looked for water. Way weaker response with plastic top. Of course I'm using a silver rod, so that's kind of cheating.

How did you do Art?

With the top on the water bottle I received no signal. With it off the signals was there but was weak..we have over a hundred plus post on here where real people have a story to tell about water dowsers. It is real so why we talking about some fake test?..Art

I figured it out. The bottle of water was in the tent.
Gee, there was more water in the guy following him around
than in a bottle... I think I'll try a few tests and let you all
know what I did and how well I did. Got me curious.
I'll even try barehanded "feeling" for the water. I'll try copper
wire rods for a cup full of pennies and steel wire rods for a hidden
ball of steel wire, and try to freak out a friend or two with paper clip
L-rods that I will have "secretly" magnetised. They'll pull towards
the pole where I have a basketball goal most likely, because my compass
does. The pipe is magnetised somehow, as are most flagpoles. When I was
a kid in Boy Scouts we often went to one regular camp where over the years
the flagpole has been struck many times by lightning. You've got to be
about 20 feet away from it before your compass will quit pointing at it.
Just a little useless information to most folks. Possibly valuable information
to other folks. I'll try my tests a little differently though. Open top cups under
upside down buckets. Also I'll have my wife hide the water. My buddy Darrel
and I won't know where she put it, versus several cups of dry gravel. He can
verify my choice and make sure I don't cheat, and if the signal seems weak or
uncertain, I'll have him put his hand on my shoulder to increase my reception.
Also, while looking for the pennies I can hold pennies in my hands for bait and
wear an electric watch on my wrist (oops, can I say that here?) to increase the
field effect of the electricity coursing through my central nervous system.
Hope I'm not in violation of "THE RULES" by wearing a wristwatch to increase my
sensitivity. Of course having someone's hand on my shoulder has the same effect
as long as he's alive.
Like I've said, I'll let you all know...

Hey bill and LT…Tried the experiment again. This time I sat the bottle in the bucket with a bar magnet..Received no response at all..I also tried the experiment with my home made weight checker and located nothing…It is so easy to fool a set of dowsing rods….Art
