Has anyone experience this? When using rods in a , I'll call it a hollow with rock walls on both sides, the rods act strangely. They become inconsistent meaning they hit once and may not the next time. They start to cross then stop. They start to pull one way then go back to center. Like they don't know what to do, ha. They cross alittle but not all the way. Could the ground beside and underneath me cause this. I'm puzzled.

I don’t know the answer but I will suggest things to try....when they close part way then open just back up a few steps and inch your way forward or go on past and turn around and try it again..Art

I think you are getting interfering signals from the walls and/or floor.

This is a good time to whip out your metal detector.
