Quick and not so good update, I was unable to get permission from the Tribal Council to do more than drive out there and kick a rock. Also in no uncertain terms told not to be caught with a metal detector or other prospecting equipment. Also no firearm. (not good as it is prime narcotic smuggling routes from Mexico). I do have a lead on another site (BLM Land) I will start a new thread.
