So I read something on the internet that says that in Alaska your allowed to have a dredge hose no more then 2" over the legal size for the area as long as your nozzle is the right size.

Does anyone know if this is true and if its the same in Oregon? I have a chance to buy a 8" dredge with no engine or sluice for $1500. It comes with the dredge frame, pontoons, nozzle, 20' of suction hose, power jet, flare, and pump with vw bellhousing and starter.

My claim only allows up to a 6" dredge but it would be nice to be able to modify the nozzle rather then buy new 6" hose.

I believe under the general 700pm Permit from DEQ that the nozzle can not be any larger than 4". I think if you pay the extra money there is another permit that will allow you to run a nozzle 5" on up but I am not positive. Maybe someone else on here is more familiar with that part of it.

Well I know for sure that the area my claim is in is limited to a 6" dredge. I'm hoping I can get away with an 8" hose with a 6" nozzle.

Yeah, seen those dredge parts on craigslist myself.
Know nothing of Oregon Regs but just the same Good Luck!!!

Still no show on my APMA, so it'll have to be a 6" dredge this year for me. Always next year for the 8" as it will definately be approved by then. :icon_sunny:

SOURCES REQUIRED TO REGISTER UNDER THIS PERMIT:
1) small suction dredges not to exceed 30 horsepower with an inside
diameter suction hose no greater than six inches used for recovering
precious metals or minerals from stream bottom sediments in areas
NOT designated as essential salmon habitat.
2) small suction dredges not to exceed 16 horsepower with an inside
diameter intake nozzle no greater than 4 inches used for recovering
precious metals or minerals from stream bottom sediments in areas
designated as essential salmon habitat.
SOURCES COVERED BY THE PERMIT BUT NOT REQUIRED

Hope this helps. This is off the Oregon DEQ website. Doug.
