:icon_thumleft: Was out on the claim with my brother from Wis. that I have not seen in about 10yrs. We were out in the hills from 8-13 to 8-20. Weather was HOT!!!. But that is what the river is for. He help me pack this new homemade highbanker and motor/pump in to replace the one that was stolen.
We had a great time!!! And found some gold in the meantime.

This homemade highbanker is 16"w x 5ft long with 1" x 1/4"flat on top riffles and the sluice is made out of 1/4" marine grade pvc. Attached the sides with 1/16" aluminum angle riveted together.
The first part of the sluice i used rough top conveyor belt, with the rest carpet. And I tell ya that rough top Does catch the fine fine gold, better than anything else i have used. Going to run that full lengh of the sluice. Also used a new 2" in and out pump with 7 hp running at half speed. Had good water flow. Oh yea the hopper was sceened 1/4"
Some pics to follow...

I think he's scared to get the gold fever, or his wife wont let him..lol

Looks like you guys are having a great time!! Hope you got some good color for your efforts.

you could always tell your bro how great our economy is..lol No seriously family should try an stick a little closer together than we seem to these days, I am trying to get my grandpa to move back from MO, lake ozarks, since my grandma passed a little while back. Good luck on that issue.

Looks like a great time Hefty - and some great gold too.
Those wheelbarrows are handy to have around, when not in use, leave water in a black one in the sun - and you got a hot wash at sundown.

Well I took my brother back to the claim for a little more fun diggin for the gold before he hopped the train back to Milw, Wis.
As it was hot as ell up there we decided to dig in the trees for shade all day.
Well that was a big mistake, we got down to the roots of this tree we were under, thought we would do pretty good, but after final cleanup after running for two days,
All we had was a ton of those stupid square rocks, lots of black sand and other leave-rites.
And a few specks of gold. Well thats gold!!!

Anybody fined a use for these square rocks??? Other then makin pairs of dice.

Nice pics, Hefty! I took the train from Chicago to Sacramento. The California Zephyr! A great ride! Good to see you got "re-aquainted" with your brother. That's the best part! TTC

As this, and I hope not, might be,

Sorry I cant get myself to say that.
