I have been wondering about the dB output of the ML WP HP and did a test on the ones I received recently and it was a little enlightening.
Although I’m sure this isn’t a perfect test environment, it worked for me.
I set this test up using a foam head with holes drilled into the ear locations about the size of a pencil.
After doing a cutout at the back of the head, I inserted the dB meter and set the dial to 80db.
Using a key and a dug silver Rosie, I kept getting readings between 67db and 75db.
The key returned the lower dB output where as the Rosie was louder in the 70’s.
I find the volume output on these HP works for me.
As usual ymmv. Hope this helps someone trying to decide if these headphones are for them.
Best of luck!

Will you please repeat the same test with the headset that came with the Equinox and again any other headphone(s) you might have so we can see a comparison?
Thanks

Not scientific, but the LS.Pelso WP headphones Kellyco sells are louder than the ML supplied wired phones (the ones that come with the 600) and certainly louder than the ML WP phones and have good sound isolation. I would have no problem using them as everyday headphones if need be. Will try to get some objective measured dB numbers on the various headsets and post them later, but my test setup will not be anything close to as sophisticated as Rusty's setup above.

Since I now have the setup, I’ll also load up one of the free dB apps for the smartphone to see how the numbers compare to the analog meter.

Here are some screenshots from a sound meter app I used on my phone. My phone has mics on both ends of the phone so I just placed it between the earcup on each phone set. I waved a gold wedding band, penny, and dime across the coil (with pauses in between) and recorded the resulting audio graph. The phones tested were:

The ML wired phones that came with the 600

The LS.Pelso WP Phones from Kellyco

The ML WP Phones

Custom modified GG Amphibians

Results: LS.Pelso's had best volume, sound quality, sound isolation, and comfort.

In terms of volume the rankings were: LS.Pelso, ML 600 Phones, ML WP Phones, and the GG Amphibians bringing up the rear at about 15-20 db below the Pelsos on average.
