When last I lay me down to slumber,
I set loose my mind to wander......
of treasures lost and treasures found,
of treasures sleeping in the ground......

On how to find this fruit with huntches,
of silver disc's and copper bunches......
to be like Bryce an Dan you know,
whose legendary status grow......

Oh' just to find those ancient drops,
of scattered crowds or lowly props......
it's to those finds my aim's directed,
to search and search until detected......

Waste not on me O' Cupid's arrows,
for my love lies among the narrows......
of parks and glens and farmers fields,
on grounds unearthed of richly yields......

And when at last, my goal's achieved,
and from the ground my find's relieved......
my soul will rest from all the fray,
repose will come another day.

Is that original? If so it's really good. If not it's still really good! Monty

When I use to drink I use to get the urge to do lots of things but writing poetry wasn't one of them! I never could get past the "Roses are Red". Don't short change yourself. It takes a lot of talent to write poetry with or without the alcohol. I like it. Monty

Sharpshooter,

As Monty said, it takes talent to write poetry. I might also add that is a very nice poem and many folks on here can relate to it!
